The thing about light is that there is also dark.
And there has been so much darkness this year. So much pain and heartache internally, locally, globally…and I feel it. But how to you become aware of it, feel it, and not let it overtake you? To be honest, I don’t know today. I really don’t. Maybe tomorrow, but not today.
That’s the thing about Advent though, right? It’s the waiting. It’s the dragging our feet through the darkness knowing the light is coming. Staying present. Staying aware of the darkness and searching for the shadows.
The hope within the dark.
It is in the shadows.
It’s the realization that the light is there.
It has been there all along.
We might not see it yet, but the shadows show us the way.
Would I even notice the shadows if I didn’t recognize the darkness too?
Jesus come. Show us your hope. This weary soul needs the rejoicing.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows – light! sunbursts of light.
